SEAMS schools

Since 2011 SEAMS schools are organized in SEAMS member-countries. This series of SEAMS schools of various topics is supported by CIMPA to provide an opportunities for graduate students to learn advanced topics in Mathematics as well as to meet experts in the fields.  There will be 6 SEAMS schools in 2015 which will be listed below (alo see  http://seams.maths.web.id/). In each school there will be a number of grants. Graduate students and young lecturers are encouraged to apply to get financial support to participate in the school.

Post-doctoral Positions Available in NCTS (Taipei)

The National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS, Mathematics) in Taipei invites applications for Post-doctoral Researchers for the academic year 2015. 

NCTS aims to promote high level researches in major areas of mathematics and theoretical physics, and is a vibrant place with many activities including conferences, workshops, seminars, special topic courses, and summer/winter schools constantly taking place. Members of NCTS consist of center scientists, visiting scientists and postdoctoral fellows. Please visit www.cts.ntu.edu.tw for more information. 

Description and Application of the positions:

This will be a one-year appointment from August 1, 2015, renewable to three years subject to performance. We expect talented researchers who are pursuing academic excellence and wish to conduct researches at the highest level. Priority will be given to applications in the following areas:

  • Number theory and representation theory
  • Algebraic Geometry
  • Differential Geometry and Geometric Analysis
  • Differential Equations and Stochastic Analysis
  • Scientific Computation

By all means, researchers from other fields are more than welcome to apply for the position as well.

2016 VEF Fellowship Application

The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) is pleased to announce the 2016 VEF Fellowship Program. The Fellowship application and selection process is open, competitive, and transparent. Applicants do not need to pay any fees to anyone in order to apply or be considered for a VEF Fellowship. Winners are chosen based on individual merit, including academic performance and preparation, intellectual capabilities, English proficiency, and the potential for contribution to scientific education and research.

Post Bachelor Program 2015, HGS MathComp, Heidelberg University

The Post-Bachelor program is a project summer school of HGS MathComp. In scientific projects participants get first hand experience on doing own research in one of the key labs of the graduate school (applied mathematics, computer science, theoretical chemistry, computational physics, systems biology ...). This serves as an introduction to a possible entry into the postgraduate and PhD programs at Heidelberg University.

The summer school is organized in cooperation with the international summer school of Heidelberg University. Students in their last year of bachelor or immediately after their bachelor studies are invited to join an interdisciplinary summer school for mathematics and computer science. 

The program consists of two phases:

  1. The first phase (1-2 months) has an intense focus on research complemented by an optional lecture program in mathematical modelling, numerical mathematics, image processing and scientific computing.
  2. The second phase (optional; in August) is a culture and language training in cooperation with the central summer school of the university.
