Established in 3/2005, the department proceeds the research and runs a Seminar in Number Theory on current or fundamental topics.
The main research directions of the members of the department are as follows:
- Assoc. Dr. Ta Thi Hoai An: Complex and p-adic Nevalinna theory and related problems.
- Prof. Dr.Sci. Ha Huy Khoai (associated member): Complex and p-adic Nevalinna theory and related problems. Modular forms and its applications. (Public)Cryptography and applications.
- Dr. Nguyen Duy Tan: Galois theory and embedding problems; Galois cohomology of algebraic groups and related problems.
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Thang: Arithmetic, geometry and Galois cohomology of algebraic groups and related problems.
- Dr. Nguyen Chu Gia Vuong: Automorphic forms on algebraic groups and related problems.
Beside the research, the members of the department take a part in the formation and training work and other related activities such as reading courses in mathematics on all levels (starting from High school level up to graduate level), training the teams for Mathematical Olympiad, direct the diplomas and theses (Master or Ph.D.).
