Abstract: The aim of this talk is to introduce the concept of the Yosida distance between two unbounded linear operators and to present some recent results related to this notion. I will begin by recalling some known results on linear and nonlinear perturbations of exponential dichotomies. Afterwards, I will explain the ideas that motivated the definition of the Yosida distance. In the final part, I illustrate how this distance serves as a suitable tool for studying unbounded perturbations, with recent applications to linear partial functional differential equations, stability radii, and the well-posedness of linear evolution equations.
