Abstract. High temperature on electronic devices not only causes performance degradation, system failure, but also burns out the circuit board, reducing the device lifetime. To guarantee the performance of systems, peak temperature should not exceed the threshold temperature of the device. In addition to that, the device temperature varies upon on its on/off status. Modeling such behaviors, generalized Dyck paths can be used. By that modeling, each codeword, which is a sequence of on and off status on the device, will be considered as a generalized Dyck path with different lengths for up and down steps and with a bounded height. The coding channels accepting these codewords are called thermal-aware channels.

In this talk, we study enumerations for variants of Dyck paths in their generating function forms. From that, we give information of the capacity for thermal-aware channels.
