Abstract: In this talk we generalize the theory of quasi-shuffle algebras à la Hoffman and explore some applications to both classical multiple zeta values (MZV’s) and MZVs in positive characteristic. We establish a connection to the universal property of MZV’s as discovered by Chung-Ngo Dac-Pellarin in 2023. This is a joint work with Im Bo-Hae, Kim Hojin, Le Khac Nhuan and Pham Lan Huong.
