Tóm tắt: We discuss construction of irreducible polynomials representations of the general linear group $GL_m (mathbb{C}) $. These representations are parametrized by Young diagrams $lambda$ with at most $m$ rows and have bases corresponding to Young tableaux with entries from ${1,…,m}$. They can also be constructed from representations of symmetric groups.  These representations give the full list of irreducible representations of $GL_m(C)$. Some open problems on representations of general linear groups over fields of positive characteristic are also briefly presented.
