USA National Academy of Sciences Members and Foreign Associates Elected

The National Academy of Sciences – USA announced on 29 April 2014 the election of 84 new members and 21 foreign associates from 15 countries in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Those elected today bring the total number of active members to 2,214 and the total number of foreign associates to 444. Foreign associates are nonvoting members of the Academy, with citizenship outside the United States.
 

Among newly elected members and their affiliations at the time of election, there is Son Dam Thanh – a University Professor from University of Chicago, USA. Prof. Son is also a member of VIASM Scientific Council. He regularly helps VIASM in determining its scientific policy.
