Abstract: The original Subspace Theorem, discovered by Wolfgang M. Schmidt in 1972, is a far-reaching generalization of Roth’s celebrated theorem in Diophantine approximation. An important question is to quantify the finiteness that appears in Schmidt’s qualitative statement. Many impressive Quantitative Subspace Theorems have been established, most notably thanks to many years of devoted research by Schlickewei, Evertse and Ferretti. In this talk, we shall discuss several new extensions and generalizations of known Quantitative Subspace Theorems. We shall apply these results to a certain class of Diophantine equations known as unit equations. This is joint work with Si Duc Quang.
