Abstract: We survey some important research directions and results by Nirenberg, Caffarelli, Evans, Trudinger, Krylov, .... on fully nonlinear elliptic equations. The following topics will be discussed:
- Some examples on fully elliptic equations
- Questions on the definitions and their extensions of fully elliptic equation.
- Classical and generalized solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations
- A priori estimates of solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations
- Continuous methods for solving boundary value problems for fully nonlinear elliptic equations
- Monge-Ampère type equations and their relations to optimal transport problems.
