This class of algebras was introduced firstly by B. Steinberg in 2010 as a model for discrete inverse semigroup algebras. Since its introduction, Steinberg algebras have attracted a lot of attention as they include all Leavitt path algebras and because of their close relationship to C*-groupoid algebras. As a consequence, they bring the powerful toolkit of groupoid analysis to the study of Leavitt path algebras. |
