The Quantum Topology and Hyperbolic Geometry Conference will take place in Nha Trang, Vietnam during May 13-17, 2013. The conference is hosted by Nha Trang College of Education and Institute of Mathematics, Hanoi.

LOCAL ORGANIZERS: Phung Ho Hai, Vu The Khoi (Institute of Mathematics, Hanoi), Chu Dinh Loc, Phan Phien (Nha Trang College of Education)

SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE: Vaughan Jones (Vanderbilt University) and Vladimir Turaev (Indiana University)

TOPICS: Quantum Invariants; Hyperbolic Geometry; Khovanov and Heegaard Floer Homology; Volume and AJ Conjectures; Chern-Simons Theory; TQFT and representations of mapping class groups.

Before the conference during May 6-10, 2013, Dave Futer, Kazuo Habiro, and Gregor Masbaum will each give a 5-lecture mini-course at the Institute of Mathematics in Hanoi.

  • David Futer (Temple Univ., USA): Hyperbolic knot theory

  • Kazuo Habiro (RIMS, Japan): Category-theoretic structures in 3-dimensional topology

  • Gregor Masbaum (Univ. Paris 6, France): Skein-theoretic construction of TQFT and Integral TQFT
