Abstract: Bac Hung Hai Irrigation (BHHI) is the second largest irrigation system in Vietnam. It plays an important role in agriculture production for four provinces, including GiaLam (HaNoi), HaiDuong, HungYen and BacNinh, in the Red river delta. The aim of this talk is to present a simple simulation of operation of BHHI system. We use Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) technique to model the system. Simulation experiment is designed by using GAMA platform, which is an open source platform for building spatial ABMs. Available rainfall data is used to test different scenarios which allow to provide (1) a better solution that adapt with new condition for system management, (2) to deal with each situation such as drought or flood to make sure that every area has enough water for agriculture, industry and other activities, and (3) to assess how the gate/canal system operation can respond to fair water distribution and keep canal water levels at the target ones.
