Abstract: We give upper bounds for the number and degrees of generators of the module of Jacobian syzygies of a reduced plane curve. Then we relate these numbers to rational (nearly) cuspidal curves, and to curves realizing the maximum Tjurina number in a well known du Plessis-Wall inequality.
