Abstract: We give some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the limit of an arbitrary bivariate rational function at a pole. As an application, we provide an effective algorithm to verify the existence of this limit based on Puiseux expansions. (joint work with Nguyễn Hồng Đức, Phạm Tiến Sơn and Guo Feng).
