Tóm tắt: We will briefly review the classical notions of rational and Du Bois singularities and their recent generalizations - k-rational and k-Du Bois singularities - in the local complete intersection (lci) case. Then, we explain why these naive definitions of higher Du Bois and higher rational singularities need not be the correct notions to consider in general. Instead, we propose alternative ones that agree with the existing definitions in the lci case but are less restrictive in general and include natural examples given by toric varieties and cones over smooth projective varieties. In this new setting, we will establish some basic properties of k-rational and k-Du Bois singularities, and, in particular, show that k-rational singularities are k-Du Bois. This talk is based on joint works with Wanchun Shen and Sridhar Venkatesh.
