Abstract: The Brauer group was generalized from fields to commutative rings by Auslander and
Goldman. Theorem 7.4 of [AG60] gives a local-global description of this group over regular rings of dimension 2. The authors asked for a general result. This talk presents an introduction to separable algebras and Brauer group over a commutative ring with emphasis on the purity results for regular rings of dimension 2.
