Abstract: This talk introduces the mathematical framework of quantum mechanics. We begin with the motivation for quantum mechanics by briefly recalling classical mechanics and how it fails to describe the hydrogen atom system. We then shall discuss the basic principles of quantum theory, especially its probabilistic nature. Finally, we shall conclude with the uncertainty principle.
