Interactions between Fano and hyperkahler geometries

Abstract: We will consider some unexpected and non-trivial examples of Fano and hyperkahler manifolds and explain their interactions. Classical results by Beauville-Donagi, Lehn-Lehn-Sorger-van Straten associate a hyperkahler variety to a cubic fourfold. Recently, Flapan-Macrì-O’Grady-Saccà constructed Fano varieties from hyperkahler varieties.
I will explain the latter construction and how to compute the Hodge numbers of a Fano 8-fold obtained in this way.
