Abstract: In this talk, we derive the viscoelastodynamics von Kármán plate theory from the nonlinear three-dimensional equations in Kelvin–Voigt rheology. Starting with a fully three-dimensional time-discrete model, we prove that the corresponding solutions converge to their continuous counterparts. Then, using the derivation of nonlinear plate theory by Friesecke, James, and Müller, we perform a dimensional reduction from 3D to 2D on various scales to identify weak solutions of the viscoelastodynamics von Kármán plate equations. This is a joint work with Barbora Benešová and Malte Kampschulte.
