The first Spring meeting and travel are held by the Vietnam Mathematical Society (VMS) on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014.

Traditionally, the penultimate New Year's Eve - Tất niên has been held today (January 24, 2014) at the institute. Vietnamese New Year – Tết is coming soon!

The International Conference on Commutative Algebra and its Interaction to Algebraic Geometry and Combinatorics was held on 16 - 20 December 2013 at the  Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the Institute of Mathematics – VAST.

           The Conference is a big event in the special semester on Commutative Algebra 2013 at VIASM and Institute of Mathematics – VAST. It aims to present recent developments in Commutative Algebra and its interaction in Algebraic Geometry and Combinatorics. There will be also discussion on how to promote mathematics in Vietnam.

           The Conference is also an event to celebrate Prof. Ngo Viet Trung’s 60th birthday, who is former Director of Institute of Mathematics – VAST.

           There are 9 plenary talks and 55 session talks during the 5-day Conference.
         
           There are more than 100 participants from different institutes and universities in Vietnam and over the world. Among them there are 63 foreign mathematicians and Vietnamese mathematicians working overseas.

The year's annual meeting of the Institute of Mathematics was held on December 31, 2013 at the main hall of the institute.
