Abstract: We define tropical intersections, and discuss which generalizations exist in the literature and how they can be used for local tropicalizations defined by Popescu-Pampu and Stepanov. Using a theorem of Wagreich, this leads to a formula for the multiplicity of normal Newton nondegenerate surface singularities.
