Cohomological Hilbert-Samuel polynomials of principal ideals

Abstract: We prove that if $I$ is principal ideal in a local ring $(R, \mathfrak m)$ then the function $\ell_R(H^0_{\mathfrak m}(R/I^{n+1}))$ is a polynomial for $n$ big enough. We give a formula expressing the leading coefficient of this polynomial in terms of length of certain local cohomology modules and usual multiplicity.
